Sculpting is my passion. I began by modeling vases and bowls with my hands. But I knew that my hands were meant to model
figures when I discovered that I could instill personality and movement in a piece of clay to make it speak for itself.
Amazingly, through the art of sculpting, I can express the feeling of being a woman and mother by using an inanimate figure.
I call this expression of womanhood and motherhood, "Grace and Strength".
Strength signifies the power of the woman. Strength exudes from a woman's passion. Her strength has never been
truly recognized historically. However, the latest research documented in Time Magazine issue in March of 1999 reveals that
women are tougher and stronger than any one ever thought. The article noted that females have a more sociable anatomy than their
counterparts. Her uterus fluffs up every month in hopes of housing a baby. Thus, strength is also the ability to carry a child
in her womb.
Strength is a woman's independence from confining stereotypes. A woman's place no longer is just in the home but also in
colleges, corporations, and professional practices.
Grace is the way a woman balances motherhood and marriage. It is the way she loves and the way she feels compassion.
Grace is how she nurtures her children and the manner in which she supports her husband. Grace stands for her gentleness and beauty.
There is strength in a woman's soul and there is grace in a woman's movement. Grace and strength is the theme that celebrates
womanhood and motherhood. They represent the yin and yang, the soft and hard, the light and dark of a woman. They are
complementary features that perfect a woman.
